Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do you decide what to fund?

Applications are made – usually by a frontline member of staff such as a ward matron or specialist nurse -following a procedure laid down by the Hospitals Trust and are considered at one of our monthly committee meetings. Typically, they are for something the NHS cannot afford or even consider that assists patients in their treatment and staff in doing their very important work.

Are you part of the East Kent Hospitals Charity?

No. We are entirely independent of them. They raise funds for all the hospitals of the Trust whereas all the money we raise is spent only at the QEQM Hospital. Also, unlike them, we have no paid staff.

I work in the Hospital and want to apply for charitable funding to buy an item of equipment. How do I go about it?

Please visit www.ekhcharity.org.uk/nhs-staff-and-grants where you will find the information you need including the necessary application form.
